Accessibility

I’ve prepared this accessibility page so that additional information is available to those who need it.  It’s really important to me that my practice and space is accessible to those with disability and other health needs but if there is anything you require additional information on which you do not see listed below please drop me a message using the contact form.

Location:

I am based at Brighton and Hove Therapies: 1 The Offices, 10 Fleet Street, BN1 4ZE.

Please note: Although the address is officially Fleet Street, the entrance is actually tucked away off Fleet Street, in the pedestrianised area which you reach via Sinclair Walk, linking Fleet Street with New England Street.

You can find directions, including step free access here.

Inside the clinic:

  • The massage beds are fitted with hydraulics which allow their height to go up and down easily.  This movement can take place either before you get on the bed, or with you already laid on the bed.  This can make it easier for you to get on and off the bed, but also allows for different heights for different body types.

  • The width of the massage beds is 70cm.  This is wider than an average massage bed which is 63cm.

  • The weight capacity of the massage beds is 240kg.

  • The width of the doors within the clinic for accessibility of wheelchairs is as follows: Main entrance, 77cm.  Bathroom, 87cm.  Treatment rooms, 68cm.

  • Inside the actual treatment rooms, there is sufficient space for you to leave wheelchairs etc.

  • Inside my clinic room, I have a little basket of fidget toys.  You are welcome to use these during consultation and have in your hand during treatment if you feel it would help.  You are also free to bring any fidgets you think you would help!

The treatment:

  • Trauma informed pre-massage consultation.  All massage begins with a thorough consultation to discuss where you do and don’t want to be touched, anything I need to be aware of with your physical and mental health, and any additional needs you may require during the treatment.  For example, you may need a little 5 minute break in the middle to have some water.

  • Neutral spaces.  Wherever possible, I try to make my space neutral.  We use adjustable low lighting in neutral colours, quiet lofi music is optional, the rooms are painted in a nice soft white and have sound proofing.

  • Temperature regulating linens.  I use eco friendly and fair trade linens which help the body regulate temperature.  The rooms can also be increased or decreased as required.

  • Body positive linens.  I chose my massage linens so that a wide range of body shapes and sizes could feel comfortable.  The linens are sized as follows: Length 1860mm.  Width 1130mm.

  • Scent options.  Wherever possible, I provide a variety of scented (and unscented) oils for you to choose from.

  • Oil options. Oil is always optional and we can work without it if you feel the texture wouldn’t be right for you.

  • Clothing options.  No clothes, some clothes, all clothes.  These are all valid ways to receive massage.
